STUMPED w/ CD Changer...PLEASE ADVISE! 850 1995

I am stumped with this installation.

I have a '95 850 that was NOT prewired for the CD changer but has an SC-811 head unit. Per recommendations from this board I bought an Alpine CHM-S620 and Peripheral VOLALP adapter. I mounted the CD changer in trunk and ran the cable under both front and rear driver side sill plates. I connected the yellow power lead of the VOLALP adapter to the +12V Power lead in the #4 slot of the "A" radio connector.

The entire process was fairly easy BUT I can't get the thing to work! The CD changer is getting power since it ejects and accepts the cd magazine BUT the SC-811 does not acknowledge the CD player is there. Nothing happens when I push the CD button on the head unit. I disconnected and reconnected every wire connection in the system but it still does not respond. WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I PULL ALL MY HAIR OUT!
