High pitched whistle from under the hood. 850 1993

I have a '93 850 GLT w/98,000 miles. Very often I will hear a high pitched whistle sound coming from under the hood while driving. The pitch and loudness of this "whistle" increases with the speed of the car. It can be heard with the windows up. It does subside when the car is idling. No, I do not have those "Deer alert" plastic whistles attached to my bumper.
Any ideas as to what this could be?
