Sweet smell from vents at start up, is it coolant?

When engine is cold, heater controls set to warm settings, sweet smell comes from vents. After warm up it goes away. Is this a self sealing leak in the heater block? No noticeable loss in coolant. Do those stop leak additives work? Thank you
