Bought a beautiful white T6 fully loaded with 60,000 miles on it in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, 2/1/03, paid $16,900. Drove the car home (900 miles)to North Carolina without incident. On Monday the car started surging at idle and would not hold a constant RPM. Took car on Wednesday to independent Volvo shop. They said it would most likely need a new Electronic Throttle Body, but said they would clean the one I had because sometimes that works for awhile. They also removed some fault codes from the computer and reset some things. That was $140.00 and lasted about 30 miles. Now the car will not idle and dies when stopped in gear. If I put it in neutral it surges from 500rpm to 1100rpm, back and forth. Now looking at a new Throttle Body, or maybe a Air Mass Meter. I could send the car back to the place I bought it, either way I'm looking at about $700.00. The car really drives well otherwise. What verdict on a 1999 S80 T6, thumbs up to keep or thumbs down to return? I am going to contact the dealer that originally leased the car to see if they were also the servicing dealer, and if so what history the car has. That may aid my decision.
