5 speed manual transmission 850

My transmission stated giving me problems when changing gear yesterday. If I attempt to change from say 1st to 2nd, or 3rd to 4th, etc above about 4000 RPM, I have real difficulty getting it into gear - very tight (sometimes so tight I cannot actually get it into the gear). I can however put it into the next gear up, eg. 5th. Below 400 RPM, gear change is pretty much normal - a little notchy but no worse than it ever is.

The car has done 150k miles and is a 2.0 20V estate (wagon). Anyone had difficulties like this? Is it likely to be start of a dead gearbox, or just the clutch needing replaced? I was going to change the gearbox oil just incase this helps - although that was done about 15,000 miles ago...
