Hi everyone,
My 2000 S80 is going in the the shop this Thursday (for an appt. I made 2 weeks ago) to have the following problems looked at:
1. Loud whining from the power steering. This started about 3 weeks ago, and occurs about 75% of the time now. It first starts when I start up my car in the morning, and really gets going after the first turn I make in the car. It does not go away until I turn the car off.
2. Door locks, door locks, door locks...I have had my car in the shop at least 5 times to have the door locks looked at. When it first started, it was either the doors randomly locking or unlocking themselves while I was driving, or have the doors unlock during the night when it was parked. Now, it's gotten to the point where the driver's door lock is broken, and needs to be manually pulled up or down. My car no longer alarms with the remote, and needs to be alarmed manually with the key.
Now, the new problem that just started in the past couple days is SEVERE rattling and shaking through the steering column when I make turns. Not only does the steering column shake, but the ENTIRE car shakes along with it. I will need to mention this to them when I bring it in.
One other note: I have also had the shop look at my car because I feel that the ride has gotten a lot rougher and bumpier in the past couple months. The car tends to really shake and rattle over relatively smooth roads. When they took it out for a test drive, they said nothing was wrong. But maybe with the power steering making noises and the rattling through the steering column, more symptoms are coming up of a much larger problem...
Anyway, wish me luck this Thursday...I'm just glad that there are less than 6 months on this lease remaining...August 17, 2003 will be a very nice day indeed!
