Clicking in steering on C70 Convertable C70

Every 6K-7K miles on my 2001 C70 Convertable, 30K miles, the steering system makes clicking noises when I am going slowly and turning sharply (i.e. parking). I don't have to step on the accelerator for it to do this, it happens in drive and reverse, and usually starts with one direction and the other side starts clicking shortly thereafter. Two dealers say this is "normal on C70s," and solution is lubing the steering stops--which DOES solve the problem (until it's due again for maintenance), but seems to me like a poor design and a way for the dealer to get me back in the shop. Is this really "normal"? Thanks.
