I just inherited a 1993 850 GLT one-owner with 91,000 miles. I am told that because of an intermittent whirring noise on take off that I am "probably" due for a new clutch. The independent Volvo repair shop I had look at the car said it could be tomorrow or it could be next year. They quoted me $1,450.00 U.S. for the job. That seems a bit high for a clutch? I live in S.F. so hills are an issue.
Unfortunately, I am not able to affect repairs myself.
Any words of wisdom? Anything else I should look for? The serpentine and timing belts have been replaced as have the front bushings. Rear brakes squeak.
Thanks!
