The facts :
Had my local shop throw on my front PRB Deluxes about 3 weeks ago.
Declined rotors being cut. Tech said keep eye on the left caliper
as he had to make it tight or something.
All was fine except bad brake smell when I did spirited driving.
So every once in a while I would slam on the brakes to make sure
they were strong.
Yesterday morning I go to the store and I come back and there is a puddle
of fluid under my left front wheel. As I look I see brake fluid dripping
from the caliper and steering stop. I panic, jump in the car and run
down to my local shop. Just make it in time as the Brake Light comes on
and reservoir is low.
They get to my car yesterday and say I blew a seal in the caliper.
They ordered a new one and fixed me up by lunchtime today. $150.
This included cutting the rotor.
So can anyone tell me what they think went wrong here as I am concerned about
safety, especially my daughters?
A nice independent Volvo shop owner told me you should never slam
on these brakes. Did I stress the caliper to the point of failure?
thank you,
