How do I know when I need new front/rear brakes? S70 2000

Hello everyone....Well here it is...I have a 2000 S70 SE with 24l miles on it...Its in awesome condition!!!!...My garage baby for years!!!...Well recently with a new job offer...Unfortunately, my garage baby has turned into my commuter car 60 miles a day. I still have the original equipment from the purchase...tires and all...When and what can I expect from the brakes and how can I tell if the need new pads/rotors?...can they replace just the pads?...I am really bumming about my garage baby...and having to drive it every day!!!...I guess this will be the true test for my volvo...Thanks everyone and advice or suggestions from daily S70 drivers appreciated...Lance
