Something sticking brakes/parking brake 850

Somethings going on and I'm not sure what. Noticed car slowing down when changing gears and smelled what was later told by a friend was the parking brake. I tried going in reverse to unlock the brake but this did not work. Problem is sporadic which is confusing. No instrument warnings regarding the brakes.
