Nicked the rubber boot on Rear Caliper 850

All, just changed the brakes on my 850. In the process of removing the rear pads I inadvertantly nicked one of the rubber boots on the caliper. I covered it up with some gasket sealer which I hope will keep out the water/crud.

Any thoughts on this, ie will it definitely fail? Should I replace?
