2000 S40 battery -- replacement S40-V40 2000

Hello,

I left the map light on overnight the other day and since then the battery is very weak.
I tried to charge it with a pretty good DieHard charger but it did not seem to help much.
I don't think the altenator is bad because I don't see the warning light (is my
assumption correct?). I would like to know if it is OK to replace the battery with
a third party battery. Any recommendation (and part # if available)? Thank you all very much.
