All right, I can not tell.
The dealer sticker for our 1999 V70 GLT says "leather rimmed steering wheel." we did not buy it new ($38,000, yea right) but purchased it about a year ago with 40,000 miles on it. The steering wheel "cover" was rather hard (tight?) but had thread on it as though it was leather. I assumed it was an "incredible simulation." Then the color started to come off, which convinced me it was not actually leather, it was black underneath. The dealer replaced the entire steering wheel under warranty.
The new one is really nice. Not hard like the old one, and really seems like leather, thread and all again. I can't get a straight answer from the service writer. He does say there is only one kind listed for the car.
What gives? Anyone really know? I have installed good wheelskin leather covers on two other cars, but I can not tell what is on our V70 steering wheel.
