98 XC70, how to diagnosis the ACC is functional or not? Air conditon related. V70-XC70

Hi Guys, back to the non-operational air conditioning. I try all the fuses and replaced the A/C relay and the air is still not working. Now I am down to either the ACC or the air conditioning compressor. I am aware both of them are expensive to replace but at lease I can easily do the ACC myself.

I notices what I start the car the A/C is trying to start but without luck. Also, I notice the ACC with the unit set to AUTO but the air condition LED did not light up. That is why I am thinking it may be the ACC is acting up.

Does anybody out there know how to check/diagnosis the ACC? Any feed back is appreciated.
