My 1999 V70 GLT blew the head gasket Sunday. 53K miles, properly maintained. I'm sure the temp gauge ran hot, but wife didn't notice. The low coolant lamp never illuminated. So, she drove it and got it really hot before the car shut down on its own. Now the service manager is saying the head and at least the rings are junk. Can anyone shed any light on this situation, particularly any help that Volvo NA might provide? Thanks, Kevin in Nashville.
Also, is a 98 GLT long block interchangeable with a 99?
