Problem with 1997 Volvo 850 wagon electronic climate control.
Symptom: Air conditioner blows outside air temperature when ambient temperatures are above 98 degrees.
Example:
Warmed up engine, ambient temp. is any where over 98 degrees F, right/left temp dials turned CCW to their lowest settings possible, blower on "auto", position of "REC" damper door (makes no difference), "AC" switch on and it blows only outside air temp (using temp. probe at vent outlets).
I have tried manipulating all the switchs and knobs to isolate what may be the problem-to no avail.
The overall system works perfect at lower outside ambient temperatures. Compressor cycles anywhere between every 5-22 seconds. The REC and AC OFF lights have not flashed. I do not have a fault code reader-unemployed right know.
We did not experience any problems the last 4 summers.
How can I check temp sensors? What do you suggest?
Where is my outside temp. sensor? It is not where the Haynes manual claims. The bracket to hald the sensor under the wiper motor cover is there, but the 97 model year Volvo must have located it elsewhere.
Help would be appreciated,
Chuck
