Passenger door in 'lock' position, not really locked??? V70-XC70 2000

I'm starting to wonder why I got such a good deal on this volvo last week. When the front passenger door is locked (via keyless remote, central locking button on either door, or manually pushing the knob down) one can just pull the outside handle and the door opens. Has this happened to anyone else and if so is it easy to fix?
