Cleaning throttle body 850

Hello everyone
Can anyone tell me how to clean the throttle body without removing the inlet manifold? I had the air inlet off today and tried cleaning off the gunk with thinners and rags, but it's still very stiff. I also tried WD40, but it seemed to make no difference. There was an awful coating of gunk and the flame trep was almost fully clogged, which I replaced. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to afford
