There was an article on this forum Oct 01 ("02 sensor quick fix") that gave details on repairing or cleaning the old 02 sensors instead of replacing them. I have about 120,000 miles on my 850 and the car is emitting white vapor smoke when the car is idling. By shifting in park or turning off the a/c system, the white vapor smoke stops. The volvo service tech. has run tests to determine why the "check engine" light is on. He reports that the 02 sensors and air meter both need to be replaced. That is a big chunk of $$$$ all at one time. Can a cleaning of the 02 sensors work? And what will the replacement of the air meter do? My main objective is to fix the white vapor smoke and then probably sell the car.
Any comments from the experts?
