Hi Folks,
I'm considering upgrading the ECU via flash programming in an effort to increase the horsepower and torque. However, I'm concerned about the effects of this in the automatic tranny. I've been told that the tranny on the 70 series vehicles can withstand 300+ horsepower, yet I have not seen anyone test its longevitity afterwards. Since this is my daily driver, and not exactly a cheap fix should it break, I"m concerned about the long term effects.
Therefore, those of you that have "chipped" or "flashed" your ECU's, can you tell me whether or not your tranny has been replaced as a result in the increased power? Also, those of you with no problems, what milege are you folks at?
Furthermore, is there anything else to consider in addition to the additional stress that will be put on the trans as a result of flash programming. Any other "side effects" so to speak?
Thanks in advance.
