Diesel Tdi will not start when hot 850 1996

My diesel will not start when its hot, the temp guage reads normal but the engine just cranks and cranks if I leave it for 20 minutes or so it starts fine this is an intermitent fault but is getting more frequent. Are ther maney Tdi`s in the USA
