Whistling Noises V70-XC70 1999

My V70 makes two different whistling noises. These are not belt squeals.

The first one happens when you turn the key on. You do not have to start the car. It will happen with the blower motors on or off and sometimes happens again when you turn the key off.

The second one is related to the A/C. It happens shortly after the compressor kicks in the first time, and again about 20 seconds after you shut off the motor. When you shut off the motor, you can hear the hiss of the high and low side pressure equalizing (I think this is normal, since my other car makes the same sound.) After the pressure normalizes, it whistles for about 5 seconds. Listening with a mechanic's stethoscope, I think it is coming from the high side pressure line. That would lead me to suspect an orifice tube problem, but I'm not sure why it would whistle, especially under this particular set of circumstances.

Do either of these whistles sound familiar to anyone?
