Temperature guage rises to 3/4 when A/C on

Does anyone experience this? I've notice whenever I have my A/C on, the temperature guage will went up from 1/2 to 3/4. This happens for the last month or so after an A/C recharge. I'm located in Vancouver, BC and I don't know if it's because of the esp. hot summer days we have here for this year.
