Instrumentation stopped working - with a twist 850 1995

Hi All,

I've got a '95 and the car was driving fine (as reported to me) all of a sudden the gas gauge went to zero, then the speedo to zero, then everything (temp, rpm etc). Then the up arrow started to blink and still is. The wierd thing is that the blinkers and flashing up arrow are still working (lighting up anyway), just no instrumentation. Any idea of what to check? I did a search and came up with: check battery connections, maybe a bad ignition switch (don't know how to check). I've never taken the instrumentation or anything out of the dash either.
