Powerstage? 850 1993

I was able to get off the AC diagnostic unit code 4-1-9 which is an error reading diagnostic signal from blower powerstage. First what is a powerstage? is that a varaible resistor or something bc i know the blower works i have it manually rigged up. Also could I replace it w/ ease? I'm brinign the car in on thurs for the dealer to look at, but I'd like to do as much as i can myself.
