Should I buy 855 manual trans GLT? 850 1995

Any advice? I'm considering purchase of following:
this car has the 20 valve engine coupled to manual trans.
Has 95,xxx miles. well maintained, has dealer records but
my impression it was not as "peppy" as the automatic 96 850
I drove. What's the board's opinion of the manual trans
850 GLT wagons?
