BACKGROUND: am considering whether to invest in valve/head work on '94-960 or to purchase used V70XC with 40K miles (2001). one of the mechanics who quoted on the 960 work reports that the 5 cylinder head/valve configuration in the V70 (as well as the rest of the newer volvos) has inherent problems in its design causing premature cam deterioration on the camshaft.
QUESTION: has anyone experienced this? is it a well-known problem or is the mechanic blowing smoke? are there other issues that one should be aware of with the V70 XC?
any input would be greatly appreciated.
