850 Transmission failing? Help/advice 850

We have an 850 Turbo wagon bought new (at the factory) in 1995, and it's been great. BUT today, tooling along about 40 mph, it felt like it slipped into neutral and would not move forward at all, engine just revved. Turned it off and it sort of worked enough to limp home, with the SHIFT UP arrow flashing. ANyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm guessing I'll have to tow it to my local Volvo shop unless someone knows a fix. Thanks for any information
