850 memory seat calibration and resetting 850

cable was broken in the backrest adjusment; i fixed it, unfortuantely, now theres a major problem with the computer. It can only operate the seat backrest for a few seconds or more before shutting off (sometimes even less time). It is hitting these arbitrary stopping points, and it is automatically stopping with or without the postion sensor. THe memory functions will not work with (well, or without, technically too)the position sensor installed. Is the ECU somehow confused of its postion? Does anyone happen to know the procedure for calibrating or resetting the system after a broken cable?
