850 turbo ICU problem 850

I had the check engine light and the shift light come on all at once. The shift light flashed and the ecomomy/performance light flashed too. I read out the codes and it said ecu memory loss. When I cleared the code I now just get the check engine light after about 5 secconds and no codes are storing now. Is it time for a new ECU??
