Tire size question (was: which tires?) 850 1995

Me again. First, thanks for the help on tire brands for my '95 850T. I think I'll be going with the Bridgestone Turanza VRs (overall ratings for rank in category, day traction, wet traction, cornering stability, ride comfort, noise comfort and tread life were tops.

Now a new question: tire size: Tire Rack says my car takes 205/55/15 as original equipment or 205/50/16 as original optional equipment, but the car currently has Michelin MXV4 205/55/16 on it (on car when purchased last month).

Can someone explain what using these different sizes will mean for driving this car? Apparently two sizes are recommended but three can be used on the current alloy rims. I'm confused and would like to make sure I get what's best for the car.
