According to the maintenance schedule for 1998 Volvos - the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced every 70,000 miles. I'm finding out now that my dealer disagrees with this and only replaces the tensioner at 140,000. Is this an unusual practice? I'm asking because now, at 78,500 miles (and 10,000 miles after having what I thought was the complete timing belt service last year) my tensioner has gone, taking the timing belt and the belt cover with it. Needless to say, I'm pissed and the dealer knows it. Any advice?
