frozen front caliper - wd-40 while still in place? 850 1993

I'm basically in the same boat as this guy:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=611949

My front left dust boot isn't in the right place anymore and my caliper and piston are rusted frozen.

Has anyone tried doing this:

I'm wondering if I can do it with the caliper and rotor in place. Has anyone tried this? What should I be careful of avoiding spraying the WD-40 onto?

thanks in advance
