Fairly new owner of 850.....??? 850 1997

I have owned my 850 since May 03 It only had 89,000 miles on it and I got a great deal on it.... $5,000. I thought it would be a great car.. I owned a 740 Turbo Wagon before that..It was crushed by a falling tree during a tornado and I was crushed... It was a great Car. I have recently found this site and find it really useful and informative... I see several of the same problems with mine that Others have... EX.. Wiper not touching the windshield, ABS light alway on and the MOST annoying is the Door Check weld break on the passenger door..... QUESTION??? If Volvo has had the same problems consistantly with the same model, why dont they do something about it??? I do't know if I will ever have another one again... I am not nearly as happy with this 850 as I was with my 740
