Ok, this may be the worst idea I've ever had but here goes. Here in Memphis if we get snow it might be for a week in February and only a couple of inches. After a few days it's just ice & slush then it's gone.
Thing is, my 855t has the 16" wheels and Bridgestone RE730s which are pretty worthless in snow & ice. Because I'm only dealing with a week's worth of commuting in these conditions I don't want the expense of another set of wheels and snows.
What about using 4 15" temp spares on their steel wheels? They're narrow, have a good block tread and traffic barely exceeds 30mph here when it does snow. They can also be found in salvage yards for peanuts.
Last year I drove my 745t with bags of litter in the back and had no problem. In the event I sell it, I'll be in the 855t.
