tilt steering wheel loose 850 1997

have a 97 855, recently the tilt steering wheel has lost some of its "stiffness" and often reclines with a soft touch. does anyone know a simple fix it to return the "stiffness" to the locking mechanism that holds the wheels at maximum tilt?
