Local dealer has a 1993 850 with 48K miles on it! Body is in great condition, interior looks fine, a 50 + mile test drive seemed rock-solid with good performance. The only problem I noticed is that the engine thermostat must be stuck wide-open because the temperature gauge only showed normal operating temp after sitting at idle for several minutes. I'd jump on this car but I've read about issues with the automatic transmission, AC evaporator and frequent micro-switch failures. I'm looking for some hand-holding. Any advice on things to look for? What, exactly, is the tranny problem I've read about? I want to be able to ask the dealer point blank so there's no wiggle room.
Thanks.
