Loose tailgate panel on 94 850 turbo wagon 850 1994

I recently acquired a 94 850 Turbo Wagon and the tailgate panel was rattling on it.

I purchased the eEuroparts anti-rattle kit (just before they dropped the price on ebay) and after much futzing about due to poor instructions, finally got it installed.

Now the tailgate panel won't stay attached at all, the first time the tailgate did the "cold weather, tired strut" drop and bounced on my head, two of the new clips popped out and fell on the ground----.

I have attempted repeatedly to pop them back into place and they will not stay.

I have noted that this is a prevalent problem on these cars as it is mentioned all over the internet.

Is there a permanent Repair??
