Hot engine bad idle/cuts out 400 1995

I bought my car new and it has given almost no problems until now.
It is a 1.8 si with B18U single point injection. (Fenix 3)
Problem started last winter, went away during the summer, but is back with avengance.
Car starts cold and runs fine until properly hot. Then sometimes stalls when you stop (CVT transmission, so still has drag on engine at rest)
Mainly, problem is when you restart engine between 5 and 30 mins after switching off. Then runs very lumpy (rich?) or just stalls when put into drive.
Have replaced air temp sensor (£90!!!) as this showed readings all over the place on an ohmeter. Will try reading ecu codes as explained in other articles, but any other thoughts please.
