Front pads and rotors - brake shop or indy? 850

New "used" Volvo owner here, in need of front pads and rotors. I'm a little too green at automechanics to do it myself safely (I just recently started doing my own oil changes!) so I'm going to have to pay someone to do it. I've been quoted a price of $390 for the front pads and rotors at my indy mechanic (who specializes in Volvos). I'm thinking that I could probably get a "just brakes" kind of shop to do it for considerably less, but I'm wondering if that is a good idea? I'd love to hear opinions and thoughts. Thanks!
