rear wiper malfunction 850 1995

The rear wiper on my '95 855 GLT has stopped working. Evidentally my wife slipped on the ice the other day and whacked the wiper arm as she fell. (thankfully, she is okay.) However, the wiper arm is not. I took the wiper arm off (it was not bent), and realigned and retightened it. But now, when you turn the wiper on, it does not move at all. I took the arm off again and inspected the splines, which look fine. Even with the wiper arm off, the splines do not turn when the wiper switch is in the "on" position. Any ideas?
