My extended warranty will be up this summer and I'm trying to decide whether to keep the car or buy a new one. I have about 125,000km on it now but I find it has been a bit of a pain. Lots of things wrong- steering rack went at 100,000- never had that type of problem with any other car and have owned 4 volvos. Things like lock assemblies breaking, window switches breaking, seatbelts etc. I have found the maintenance much more costly than before.
My main concern is the turbo. I understand that is a very expensive repair. What is the lifespan of the turbo? What is the likelihood of this breaking down?
Also, I'm not sure whether to buy an '03, '04 or used '02. I need a wagon- find the v40 quite junky for the price. Interior looks like and economy car. What do you all think?
Or should I switch to another brand because of high maintenance costs on Volvos these days. Seems many of the major car manufacturers are doing a good job on safety.
Thanks deborah
I'm in Toronto- maybe costs are higher here??
