Auto tranny shifts better in cold weather is that possible? 850

Happy New year to all. I bought my non turbo 1994 wagon in april. Every now and again, when I would come off the highway (I would have to be going at highway speeds for at least 40 miles) I could feel the Transmission down shift a little harder than it should (not slamming but noticable) When this would happen the car would start for a few feet in third, then shift back to first
and shift through the gears fine. My Indy and the dealer felt that since it
is an intermittant isssue it is not a trany waiting to fail. Now that it has
turned very cold it the NE, it has not done it at all. Coincidence, or cause and effect. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thank you.
Ps I had the tranny flused and the PNP switch has been changed.
