dolby surround II

I have one of the first production numbers on my V70 (new model) 2000. In fact it is nr. 1840. I have changed the amplifier from 4x50 to 4x75 w and put in a subwoofer in conection with my HU 803 dolby surround system. The dolby surround system does not make much sense with my 475 watts. Will a newer system (dolby surround mkII) do this better? And.. is it possible to change the old HU 803 to a new (modII) one without getting trouble with the cars in house software?
