2004 S60 AWD REview S60

I 've had my new S60 2.5T AWD for almost 1 week now... and I like it alot.
There are a couple of things that I really like about it, like the AWD in the snow. I was driving a 1998 S70 T5 SE - so I was used to the sport suspension and the harsh but controlled ride. The S60 is a little softer - cushy, but no Lincoln Town Car... that's for sure. Here are my thoughts:
Bi-Xenon head lamps... I love them!! Volvo should have put those out years ago!!
Exterior - love the S60 lines... the new S40 and the S80 are sharp too!
Interior - more room at front, less storage space for wallet, change, etc.
rear room looks smaller - tighter fit for 2 adults.
Trunk is smaller... I hope I can get a set or two of clubs in there!!
Key FOB... the integrated switchblade key and remote is huge!!! you get used to it though...
Handling - nice... was surprised by larger turning radious (almost 3 feet!)
Acceleration... the 5 speed "triptronic" is practically useless... too much lag. I wish thaat the AWD had a 5 or 6 speed manual. It goes quite good... but it is no T5!!! The low pressure turbo spools up nice, but you miss the kick in the pants of the power.
I whish that the S60 had colour matched side mouldings. I have the black on black, so it is ok... but the black trim looks cheap on the other colours.
I would have liked to see more features on the base stereo... like RDS tuning and preset program buttons. It is quite the drag to have to go through the 20 program presets with the knob... the controlls on the wheel are nice.
Overall, I like the S60... it is a solid car, great looking and rides and drives good. I'll miss my S70, it was THE car I always wanted - but now regrets on the AWD.
Cheers!
