Help with 850 purchase to finance new baby!! 850

I currently have a 1999 V70 GLT purchased two years ago. We now have our first child and I am thinking about trading for an older 850 and getting some $$ back on the deal. I am pretty sure I can give them my V70 and get the 850 and $5,000 back (I have bought all my Volvo's from the same place).

I had an 850 in the past (a 1995). Just saw a 1996 850 GLT wagon with 81,000 miles on it, not too much more than the 57,000 on our V70. Except for the interior re-style on the V70, there doesn't seem to be much difference. Anyone knowledgeable on the mechanical/construction differences? Is the suspension the same (I notice that the 850 and the S/V70 use the same anti-sway bars). Is the safety cage the same? I'm hoping there would be less electrical/nuesance problems with the 850 (the 1998/9 S/V70's have a lot).

Please provide any info you have on this.

Thanks
