My new (used) privately purchased Volvo has a rear-facing children's seat (which was already opened up when I took possession of the car). Presently I am unable to fold down the part that is back up against the back seat. I took the car to the local Volvo dealer. The service person was unable to get the unlocking latch to move. He said it (the latch) was probably broken, and the seat would need to be taken apart to remedy the problem.

My question: Has anyone had a similar problem, and/or does anyone know of a particular way in which to move the latch to get it to work?

My dog has no place to ride until the cargo space is intact, so it's kind of urgent.
