my trip computer is trippin'! 850

so...... heres the deal:

the trip computer switches at random between all of the various modes by itself. it also resets everything (avg. mpg, miles, avg. speed) by itself too. i noticed that if i push on the knob of the function selector switch, all the chaos stops for a while. I assume the cause is the switch itself and not the computer, but wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience.....
