93 850 tranny 850

I have a 93 850 which when cold will shift pretty much like normal. Within 5 minutes however, it will tach out hard to move at all. Then in a short period of time after that I can tach 6 grand and go no where. Has anyone walked in these shoes? If so what might you know that I should?
